<br />
Where to even start? As 2012 comes to a close, I want to hold onto every little moment with you guys. I am acutely aware of how fast time is speeding by and want to take a minute to jot down some of the sweet, adorable, and funny things that make me so proud to be your mommy.<br />
<br />
Alexis, my sweet 20 month old. Your personality warms my heart. I love to listen to you chatter to your new baby doll, which by the way, has not left your side since you opened him up on Christmas. Always the concerned little mommy, your baby always need his blanket, his stroller, and his bottle. When you're eating lunch, baby has to be sitting next to you in the high chair. When you take a sip of milk, you are always sure to give baby a sip from his bottle too. If something isn't right you call out "OH NO! Baby help!" I try to get all the cute stuff on video, but you get all shy and sassy telling me "NO". <br />
<br />
You like to tell me how "dalishush" my food is. How "awesummmm" this or that is. When we are trying to find an item we have lost (usually a boot or paci), carefully and cautiously lift up toys, blankets, etc., survey the scene and tell me "Nope." Just quick and to the point. You are so diligent and mindful of directions. No matter what I ask you to do, you respond with a sweet little "oooookaay" and get the job done, whether it's getting your shoes, laying down for a diaper change, or brushing your teeth. I love it and love you!<br />
<br />
Ty, my child with the gentle soul. You are growing up to be such a wonderful little boy. You are always concerned that we do things "as a whole family", even if this means all 7 of us, yes the dogs too, are piled up on the couch or bed for story time. You take after your Daddy in so many ways. You have become quite the little firefighter and will play with your trucks and rescue guys for hours on end. You love soccer and will be starting swimming soon. You are always getting good reports from school for being such a great helper and that makes me so proud. You love to read books and are always trying to bribe me with "just one more book" before bed. It's so hard to say no to your cute little face, but we had to put a book limit or you'd stay up all night!<br />
<br />
You love to laugh at all things silly, especially if anyone says poop. You were at the firehouse the other night and one of the guys let you put the radio gear on. I guess there was a lot of poop talk going on because you were laughing so hard I thought you were going to fall right out of the firetruck!<br />
<br />
Noelle, my beautiful and passionate child. You are growing up in so many ways and I am enjoying the journey. You just finished up the Nutcracker, and I can't even describe how proud I was to see you dance in the production. I sat on the edge of my seat, tears in my eyes, feeling so many things, but mostly wonder and awe at the spectacular job you did. It was nothing short of incredible and I know this is only the beginning of the many great things ahead of you. <br />
<br />
You are excelling at Kindergarten and I am so thankful that you wear a uniform! You have a love of skinny jeans, fancy shoes, and all things sparkley. You often complain that you have nothing "pretty or beautiful" to wear, but you shine so bright that you could be wearing rags and still shine like a star. You are beautiful on the outside, but more importantly, on the inside too. You care deeply for your family and even though you fight with your brother, I know you love him too :-) Doing things like sharing your last piece of candy, reading him a book, or bringing him a treat from the store, shows what a great daughter you are. <br />
<br />
You love your Daddy to bits and it is so cute to watch you talk to him on the phone. Your facial expressions and tone of voice are fun to watch when you tell stories. Often times, there is head bobbing, eye rolling, and fully bellied laughs. I love the little attitude you get when your stubbornness shows. While it can be a tad crazy to deal with, I know that your strong will is going to be an asset to you as you go through life. You are also fiercely competitive...you have to be the first in line before school, which often creates quite the frantic morning. Because, while you love to be first, you also love to sleep in and the 6:30 start your days just doesn't cut it. Other things you love: reading, doing math, making lists, crafts, dressing up, chutes & ladders, sleeping in, doing homework, writing in your journal, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and creeping me out with your wiggly teeth. Things you don't quite love: Chomper's snoring, Ty's "snuffling" and losing.<br />
<br />
I love you guys and can't wait to see what is in store for the Hunt house!<br />
Love,<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, the garden production is in full swing! The last month or so, we've had tons of corn, beans, cucumbers, and tomatoes. I forgot to take a picture of our first tomato, but I did remember to snap a shot of it half eaten! Nothing better than a fresh tomato!! The kids are about sick of them at this point, but boy, when they were first ripening they would fight for them like cats n' dogs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Noelle loves to water the garden. The only problem is that she thinks it's funny to spray Ty, which always ends in a fight.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Alexis loves to be at the garden. She is quite the little helper! We usually go on bath nights since she gets pretty dirty. Here she is helping pick tomatoes and corn.</div>

The plants are out of control! Note to self: don't be so cheap with the trellises. When you have big plants, they bend and break from the weight, thus rendering them worthless. What I'd really like to do is build big cages...made of that wire you use for concrete. Now those would be perfect.</div>

For the most of July, I would also get a sink full of corn and a ton of tomatoes. I also pulled up all the onions and am hoping they will keep through the fall.</div>

We have had the fortune to have excess tomatoes so we spent one morning blanching and freezing them. Here Noelle is posing with some of the tomatoes she peeled. </div>

Alexis is a better looker than helper with the blanching process. She was content to play with a bowl of water. Ty gave up on peeling tomatoes after about 5. </div>

Front view of the garden at home. The peas are on the left, cherry tomato in the middle, and the cucumber on the right. I haven't had any cucumbers yet; we were on vacation so I couldn't prune this last week. So, the leaves have been growing, but the cucumbers have stayed small or whithered. Hopefully we'll see some by the end of the week!</div>

Now to the bad. The freakin rabbits ate all the beans AGAIN while were on vaca. And they also had a feast on some of the onions. I feel defeated. Thankfully, the beans are flourishing at the other garden, so I'm not too mad. At least the roots will help get some nitrogen to the soil. I think I'll probably till that part and get my winter carrots started. </div>

Each time I go out to the garden, I feel like it's Christmas morning! The anticipation of what I am going to find, especially after a good, hard rain, is so thrilling! In our home garden, we have the following:</div>

Cherry Tomatoes!!!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is an overview of the garden at home. The newly planted beans have sprouted and so far so good with keeping the rabbits out. It's hard to see, but I planted some onions bulbs to the right of the beans and once those sprouted I haven't had much trouble with the rabbits (hope that stays the case!) The cucumber plant is on the move so I put up the trellis and I'm sure it'll be covering it in no time.</div>

I had a breakthrough in weeding since the last post. I used a flat shovel and and loosened up the soil before weeding. Holy cow, what a difference! Pulling the weeds was effortless and they have stayed away. I imagine that is what hoes are used for, but I had to improvise since I am hoeless. Ha! <br />
<br />
And that, my friends, is how my garden grows!Reneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04074387790962528208noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1165163777855059328.post-8196774675153469522012-06-02T22:01:00.001-05:002012-06-11T16:23:14.847-05:00Silly SallyDear Noelle,<br />
<br />
Here are just a few funny quotes as of late. You are hilarious and the facial expressions that go along with them are just amazing.<br />
<br />
"<i>Who barked the horn?"</i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
<i>**********************************************************************</i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
<i>"Your breath is tickling my arm."</i><br />
<br />
**********************************************************************<br />
<br />
Me:<i> "Do you want to go to the Planetarium tonight?"</i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
You: (sounding super excited...) <i>"Oh, is that the place where you lay back in the chairs and look at all the stars and stuff?"</i><br />
<br />
Me: "<i>Yep! That's the one!"</i><br />
<br />
You: "<i>NO WAY! THAT IS THE MOST BORINGEST PLACE EVERRRRRR!!! I HATE THAT PLACE."</i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
<i>**********************************************************************</i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
Thanks for being so great, kid! I love you!<br />
<br />
<br />
Love,<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We have corn! The corn is on its way to knee high by the 4th of July...and the weeds are growing at the same rate, if not faster. I spent a good 3 hours the other night weeding and it barely made a dent. So, I've decided to just maintain the areas around the plants and worry about the other spots when I can. I'm pretty excited for the corn, but Jeremy likes to remind me that we need to see actual ears first. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The beans have taken a bit of a hit the last 2 weeks. Here is a shot of the rented plot's beans. Something is obviously snacking on them so I made sure to get the Seven out and have been able to control the damage. Where are pictures from my home garden? Oh, there are NONE. Because something (rabbit, vole, bird?) ate the seeds/leaves. So I had to replant those and they have yet to sprout. Very frustrating!</div>

Onions are looking great! You can see my neighbors cabbage in the background. You can also see the weeds that separate our gardens. Maybe one day I'll have time to pull those. If not, oh well!<br />

On the home front, the cherry tomato plant has started to flower. The difference is soil quality and the affect it has on plants is simply amazing. Every time I go out back, it seems like the plants have grown 1-2 inches.</div>

The sunflowers are getting tall but don't look too healthy. It's probably due to our crappy soil in the backyard. I have miracle grow on the list for the grocery this week, so hopefully that will help. I would love it if I could get one or two sunflower heads to dry and make seeds!<br />

Still no sign of the lettuce. The chives were coming up, but I think a certain boy and girl picked all the sprouts to eat...because the pot is now mysteriously empty after a brief taste test. The green onions continue to grow well, and I put in some bulb onions in the home garden too, in hope of keeping out the pesky rabbits. <br />
<br />
And that's how the garden has been growing!!Reneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04074387790962528208noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1165163777855059328.post-75084224297885330232012-05-12T20:58:00.001-05:002012-05-12T21:14:08.419-05:00How My Garden Grows: Week 2<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Week two into the double gardening experience. I spent a lot of time at the rented plot, just trying to clear through all the weeds. I went over and spent my lunch hour a few times and it's coming along. Seems that the weeds are getting under control a bit, so that is good. The kids and I went out today and picked several bucket fulls again. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a picture of the garden plot. You can kind of see where my square is. I've got the onions and beans off to the right in an L shape so I can wave plant north and west as the summer goes on. You can see the three tomato plants...the cayenne pepper plant is off to the right. The corn is in the top left.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here the bulb onions are starting to sprout! So excited to have lots of onions! The seeds have not come up yet, but I'm guessing we'll have some sprouts by next week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The beans are also coming up. One more week and I'll start another 2 rows of seeds. I can't wait until our first beans of the summer!!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here the herb plant we inherited. I am pretty sure it's fennel, but I guess time will tell. It's kind of in an awkward spot so I might try and transplant it this week.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
CORN! A few corn seeds have started to sprout. This is a good thing since I have no idea what I'm doing with it : ) I've made a few friends with my neighbors so I'm hoping they can give me tips on how to make sure it pollinates and what not.<br />

Peas in our home garden- I think I have a way to construct a trellis but now I have to find the materials for cheap. I'm hoping to hit up some garage sales next weekend and see what I can find.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Beans at home- both rows are in. Now to keep the rabbits out until the get past their first leaf stage! We have some rabbit repellent that may or may not work. I've tried spreading dog hair, but all that did was get the hair all caught up in the bean pods when it grew, which was a giant pain in the ass to get off before we cooked them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Sunflowers- going to have to thin these out soon, but I'm going to wait another week to make sure I pick the strongest plants.<br />

<br />
The lettuce and chives haven't sprouted yet. I probably should have gotten them in sooner, but we'll see how it goes. I also just realized I never planted the carrot seeds! Going to get on that as soon as I can decide where to put them.<br />
<br />
And that, my friends, is how my garden grows, week 2!Reneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04074387790962528208noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1165163777855059328.post-78647094274776110052012-05-05T23:35:00.004-05:002012-05-05T23:35:48.536-05:00How My Garden Grows: Week 1Well, I took the plunge and rented a 25 x 25 plot at our local community college to grow a second garden this summer. For the last 5 years I have been practicing my garden skills at home in the 8 x 10 raised plot that Jeremy built for me back in 2007. I have been devouring all types of gardening books and trying out new tricks to get the best crops. While I am still a novice, I felt confident enough this year to fork over the cash ($30...what an incredible steal!!) and rent my very own plot in the community garden. I am beyond excited to see how it turns out!<br />
<br />
In an attempt to chronicle what works and what doesn't, I hoping to blog about it on a weekly basis. Judging from the fact that I have posted once since 8/2011, the "how my garden grows" series may or may not come to fruition. I wanted to take weekly pictures too, but my camera was dead. Nothing really exciting to see yet anyway!<br />
<br />
<b>Home Garden</b><br />
I am liking the fact that I don't have to cram everything I want to grow into this tiny space. With 5 people in this family, what once seemed like a lot of space is not enough. Here is what we've got in the ground:<br />
<br />
Onions: I sowed a row of green onions from seed. I like being able to run out and pick a few for the texas cavier that we love to eat. I planted these on the south side, and I swear it helps keep the rabbits out!<br />
<br />
Carrots: Last year was the first time I had success with carrots. Turns out you have to have patience to enjoy these. I've read up on some methods to winter them, so I am hoping to have fresh carrots year round. We'll see how that pans out. <br />
<br />
Cucumbers: Even though these take over like a forest fire on a windy day, I had to plant these at home. Every year we get SO many cukes, which literally multiply overnight and so it just makes sense to have them in the yard where we can pick them daily. I learned you also have to pinch the male flowers early and often or risk getting bitter cukes (which was sometimes the case last year), so another reason why they need to be at home. Noelle and Ty eat these like candy bars, and I'm sure Alexis will be no exception this year. <br />
<br />
Cherry Tomatoes: I'm going to try this for the 3rd year now. Each year it seems that the hairy, nasty, black spiders take over my tomatoes and I've read up on some remedies for that. They area fun for the kids to pick and great for dinner salads!<br />
<br />
Green Peppers: Another favorite of the kids. I have 5 plants in and think I have the hang of growing some great green peppers! I like to freeze the extra to use throughout the winter in chili, stirfry, fajitas, etc.<br />
<br />
Beans: I think I've finally mastered the art of planting beans in waves to ensure fresh crop all summer. I still remember the first year when I planted a ton of seeds at the same time and we were eating beans for a few weeks straight and then had nothing for the rest of the summer :-) Easy to grow and delicious!!<br />
<br />
Strawberries! This is a new crop this year. I haven't tried growing any fruits, so we'll see how it goes! I'm going to plant these on the hill out back. Building another raised bed is too expensive right now, so I'm going to see if I can actually grow these before I invest in a structure to contain them. <br />
<br />
Chives and Lettuce: Both are growing in pots. I haven't had success with either before, mainly due to the dang rabbits. I'm hoping that they will grow well since I have them off the ground.<br />
<br />
Sunflowers: These are by the side of the house. Our topsoil, or lack there of, is such poor quality that I'm not sure they will even grow. One of the downfalls of building your home...I prepped the soil a bit with fertilizer and topsoil, so time will tell if it helps, I guess.<br />
<br />
<b>Community Plot</b><br />
Noelle and I went out today and spent 4 hours weeding, prepping the soil, and planting the seeds of our crops (Jeremy accidentally left with our plants, so we'll have to get those in the ground tomorrow!) We found a fennel plant among the weeds, so we decided to keep it :-) All the crops here are ones that don't require frequent monitoring. I planted a TON of them (25 x25 is an incredibly large space). My hope is that I can blanch the beans, corn, and tomatoes and freeze for use throughout the winter. <br />
<br />
I made sure to really prep the soil because I have no idea what was planted in previous years. I raked in some of my favorite fertilizer, started a little compost pile in one corner of the lot, and broke the soil up as well as I could. While weeding, I saw zero pesky bugs under the top layer, which is a huge bonus. No grub worms, beetles, etc. that like to eat up the plants. I also didn't notice any worms, which I was sad about. This indicates low organic matter in the soil, so basically crappy soil! I am hoping to remedy that as the summer goes on.<br />
<br />
Onions: sowed a few rows of seed and a few starter onions. I have learned how to store these over the winter, so we planted a lot of them with the hopes of not having buy any from the store. I am going to plant these in waves, as well as the beans.<br />
<br />
Beans: sowed 2 rows of beans, with wave planting every 2 weeks until mid-July. <br />
<br />
Corn: planted 4 rows of corn. This is my first try at it, so I didn't want to take up too much space in case it was an epic fail. I'm curious to see how my spacing will wind up...not sure how the pollination of the plants will go, but I followed the directions on the package, so hopefully well.<br />
<br />
Tomatoes: planted 3 big boy tomato starters. I am hoping the spider fest (see above) takes its party elsewhere. I've love to freeze the extras for chili and sauces throughout the winter.<br />
<br />
Cayenne Pepper: Jeremy loves these and grow them every other year. One plant produces about 200 peppers, so we dry them and keep them for the next year too. These things are HOT and I am glad that they are in this plot and not the one at home. One touch from the kids would be a nightmare.<br />
<br />
And that, my friends, is how my garden grows!<br />

<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
Dear Alexis,</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
Well, my sweet little girl, you turned one today and I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing you grow and learn over the last year. You are, without a doubt, the strongest willed one year old I have ever met. You know what you want and are a forced to be reckoned with if you don't get your way. I love your beautiful smile. You shine from the inside out and I am so proud to be your mommy. One of my favorite things about it is how loving you are. There will be times you are cruising on by and you'll stop and pull up to give us a hug or kiss. So, so precious!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">

You keep your brother and sister on their toes and are quick to get into stuff if no one is paying attention. You are very independent- you like to feed yourself, use your own spoon, try to put on your own clothes, brush your teeth and hair. Sometimes it hits me that you are really only ONE and are pretty advanced for your age. Not to brag or anything, but you are one smart kid! I always see the wheels turning in your mind :-)</div>

<br />
On August 27th, you guys ran in your very first mud race! It was half mile long and had several obstacles, including a big mudpit at the end. You guys were so intense; I loved it! I started out running with Noelle, but you were SO FAST that Daddy had to switch with me because I was holding you back :-) We all wore bandanas and had an absolute blast, despite losing Ty in the bubble slide! You both won your age division by over 2 minutes each! We are so proud of you!! Here are some photos of the race (Noelle the first one is of you, but we can hardly see you!): <br />

I was a bit unsure how things would shake out having a newborn this summer, but I found pool time to be quite successful. The tot time from 9-11:45 each morning was perfect for my little kiddos for several reasons. First, only the kiddie pool is open during that time, so no worries about Noelle and Ty walking too far into the deep end. There are so self sufficient, I was rarely bothered until the need for food arose...they got along swimmingly, pun intended, and I only had to break up a few fights over toys. I've enrolled the kids in pee wee farmers since Noelle's first summer. It's the only thing that the park district offers for kids under 6 months, so I was totally that mom with the newborn the first year..and Noelle is finally about the right size for the shirt she got that first summer :-) <br />
<br />
The kids love the program and this year was no exception. Ty and Noelle are so independent that it makes doing outings with all 3 kids pretty seamless. We'd usually arrive a little late (hey, I said outings are seamless; getting out of the house and arriving at our destination on time...well that is a whole 'nother story!) and the kids would have to hurry to get their crafts done before snack. Each week had a theme and so the craft, snack, story time, and game were all geared toward the animal of the day. I absolutely loved watching Noelle and Ty race around, excited about about the new things they found. Some of the highlights...<br />
<br />
*Ty proclaiming with much adoration "Llamas are beautiful!l"<br />
*Noelle panicking as a baby chick slipped under a fence away from her Mama. The Mama duck was squawking and freaking out to be separated from her baby. Noelle's concerned rivaled Mama duck's :-)<br />
*Ty and Noelle getting to meet "AppleGobble". Do be sure and ask Jeremy about the story sometime.<br />
*Noelle and Ty making the cutest bunny faces.<br />
*Nursing Alexis in the shade on beautiful summer mornings as her brother and sister explored the farm.<br />
*Noelle and Ty getting to meet, pet, and hug a brand new baby calf.<br />
<br />
Here's a video clip of two of the sessions. Enjoy!<br />

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">You turned four months on August 12th and we celebrated your 1/3 birthday in style! We went to the Cardinals game and you got "beaked" by Red Bird. You had on an adorable little Nike STL onesie and were just about as cute as can be! You didn't seem to mind when he held you...you just kept gnawing on your fist without a worry in the world. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"> </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">It's been a great month for you in terms of miles stones. You rolled over from back to belly for the first time (at 3 months, 4 days), and about two weeks later, you rolled from belly to back. You'd think it'd be the other way around, but you actually like tummy time, so I guess you're thinking there is no reason to put all that effort in. Your big brother and sister were SO THRILLED to see you roll for the first time; I loved watching them watch you! </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"> </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">You're pretty much a pro now and we often find you just a roll away from smashing your head on the wood floors. The only problem we run in to is when you roll yourself over at night and scooch into the corner of your pack 'n play and can't get out. You usually make little whimpers and twist your head from side to side. I guess you just can't muster up the strength at night to flip back over. I understand though, because you weigh 13lbs 15oz, are 24.5 inches tall, have 5 rolls from your hips to your knee, and it's tough to tell where your chins stop and your neck begins. I love your chub!! </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"> </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Despite the few traffic jams you get yourself in, you sleep like a dream. Around 9:00 each night, you start to get a little fussy and I know you are ready for bed. We have a good nursing session and then you are out like a light. You wake up anywhere from 5-6, with a big 'ole grin, ready to start your day....until you finish eating breakfast and you fall asleep again until 8:30/9:00. You not only learned how to laugh (especially when your feet or thighs are tickled), but you've also found your voice! Sometimes, we'll hear a huge pterodactyl-esque noise that surprises everyone, including yourself!! </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">Other things you like to do....the exersaucer is still a favorite and I no longer need to stuff blankets around you to keep you from leaning forward. Your neck is super strong, you love to spin around (sometimes by yourself and sometimes with the help of Ty), and you're already tall enough to be on the 2nd level. Another favorite of yours is the bumbo chair. We always have you join us at dinner and you should see the buckets of drool that pour out of your mouth! I can tell you are getting ready to eat big girl food, but you'll just have to wait 2 more months!! If it makes you feel any better, we'll introduce the sippy cup to you at 5 months. I'm curious to see how you react to it! You like to be read to and get huge "wild bear eyes" when we <span style="background-color: white;">read any type of interactive book. </span></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">Part of the reason you get yourself stuck at night is that you are always looking for your lovie, Zebra. You are attached to Zebra like no other and LOVE to cover your face with the soft material. You still refuse to keep any blankets on, but will fall asleep almost immediately when Zebra touches your cheeks. I happen to think it's one of the most adorable thing in the world! Our good friend bought that for you, and I'll have to find some more so that there isn't a crisis when Zebra starts to disintegrate. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

In late May, I made a list of things to do with Noelle, Ty, and Alexis, yet when I recently brought out that list, there wasn't a whole lot I could cross off. We definitely had a busy summer - always on the go, taking little trips, tons of pool time- so I wasn't sure how we never managed to complete the "to-do" list. A lot of our days and nights were made up of little things- special moments captured with one or two pictures yet creating memories that I am certain will last a lifetime for us and the kids. <br />
<br />
I read an article in the paper the other day, where a grandma was discussing her summer fun and it was eerily similar to what our very own summer consisted of. It was as if she was looking in our backyard while she wrote, and I love how she eloquently captures the summer the Noelle, Ty, Alexis, and I experienced when she writes the following expert: <br />
<br />
<em>"They are suspended in an age of bliss, where summer is a series of leisurely delights- walks with mommy to the park, a snack cup full of Cheerios, and the joy of crushed ice. All they care about is that Daddy is rolling up his pant legs and wading in the pool. They shriek with glee. Their 3 month old baby brother</em> (in our case, baby sister, so I'm changing the he's to she's :-) ) <em>lives in the summer bliss with them. She has to be the easiest-going baby of all time. She is carefree and simply happy to be. She is incredibly alert, appearing to listen to conversations and taking mental notes. It is as though she wants to say something but is wary of frightening the adults. Although they don't own a single electronic between them, need an upgrade on anything, and have no idea who Harry Potter is, they feed on discovery. Their joys are simple and their delights inexpensive."</em><br />
<br />
Thanks for a perfect summer Noelle, Ty, and Alexis! I love you!<br />
Love, <br />

He buckled them up and took a few spins around the subdivision, while I nervously called out to be careful. We ended up moving Ty to the inside spot since I was convinced the little squirt would open the door in transit. After they got home, we BBQed, got some DQ ice cream and took a drive out in the county to watch the sunset. Yes, the scenery was beautiful, even with Noelle and Ty fighting like cats and dogs in the back during about 90% of the ride :-)<br />

<br />
Holy crap child! You just went through the LONGEST growth spurt! You started this craziness two nights ago at 1 am. I knew something was up since you have been sleeping through the night for a while now, so I had a hunch you were starting a cluster feed. Well, you were up every hour to nurse after that and then nursed ALL day every 1-1.5 hours yesterday. I was about at my wits end! Your last few growth spurts, you would cluster feed only during the night and by morning you would be back on your normal schedule. Not so much this time around. I couldn't believe how much you were nursing and you didn't sleep a wink through it all either. No sooner did I take you off the breast and lay you down, you'd be crying and rooting around almost immediately. Wow, it sure was frustrating!! Probably more so for your tired, hungry self :-(<br />
<br />
At about 9 pm last night, you nursed and then I had Daddy give you some milk too, which was gone in about 5 minutes. You were finally satisfied and were out like a light after that huge feeding! You didn't wake up until 6:30 this morning and are now back asleep after eating. I bet you are super tired Alexis! <br />
<br />
The funny thing is, is that I can tell how old you are by your eating habits. I've never been the mom who knows your exact age in weeks/days...didn't know it for your brother and sister or any of my pregnancies either. I mean, I have a general idea...you are about 3.5 months, but once that growth spurt hit, I knew you were 16 weeks old. Sure enough, I got out the calendar and counted. 16 weeks old, almost to the hour! (you were born at 1:37 am). Pretty amazing!<br />
<br />
Well sweet Alexis, I hope you plan on waking up soon because we all know how supply/demand works and I've got a ton of milk ready for you!!<br />
<br />
I love you big girl!<br />
Love,<br />

Here are some of my favorite pictures taken back on May 6th. Can you just feel the love pouring out of the picture below?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEX9BgSpAw1q1s5Fi1ebZUNfjMFKhBknDtllA7sViDYfyh7WVeb2XIMcjcg-x5-1EqbZ3NeLvzmPkLfk-hxhNyHO0ZS87toJ_vBYp67aWlhy_1HSk8I3opEG3XZXrshzfb7aZZBMPOFCM/s1600/IMG_3064.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEX9BgSpAw1q1s5Fi1ebZUNfjMFKhBknDtllA7sViDYfyh7WVeb2XIMcjcg-x5-1EqbZ3NeLvzmPkLfk-hxhNyHO0ZS87toJ_vBYp67aWlhy_1HSk8I3opEG3XZXrshzfb7aZZBMPOFCM/s400/IMG_3064.JPG" t$="true" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here he is keeping Alexis company during tummy time. It's nice to have him and Noelle around to entertain her, that's for sure! It definitely extends her time on the floor, which in turn has made her one strong little girl!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR0sBSlqDvBXuXGWA2op7pCDBdTWZEMjEbuHFjI0KN780wzgSEWqfOCZshzHNMSE5HN1rPD6CbZPuJrpDjA8CWxRfQM8MfMrn4-roSOboB-XZYKRUXxVUE0vp-FPR18S4RU5WtVVlUjMI/s1600/IMG_3118.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR0sBSlqDvBXuXGWA2op7pCDBdTWZEMjEbuHFjI0KN780wzgSEWqfOCZshzHNMSE5HN1rPD6CbZPuJrpDjA8CWxRfQM8MfMrn4-roSOboB-XZYKRUXxVUE0vp-FPR18S4RU5WtVVlUjMI/s400/IMG_3118.JPG" t$="true" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Another adorable picture of Ty gazing at Alexis! Moments like this melt my heart!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div> Ty decided to try and catch the "lady bug". He got his bug catcher and put it on her head. Alexis didn't seem to mind the extra attention.<br />
<br />

Today you rolled over from your back to your belly for the first time! Of course, it would happen on the very first day you are at Lisa's, so I didn't get to witness it first hand...but your big brother and sister did so that makes me feel a little better :-) I can't believe how strong you are at only 3 months old!! I guess you were fussing while Lisa was getting your milk ready and you just rolled right on over. If that doesn't say anything about your determination, I don't know what will. You are so sweet! And you were extra sleepy tonight going to bed before 8. I bet all that work wore you out today! <br />
<br />
One more day at Lisa's this week and then we get to snuggle and cuddle until I go back to work for real on the 15th. I love you little girl!<br />
Love, <br />

Our neighborhood was having a garage sale and Noelle & Ty were determined to make some money! Earlier in the week we painted a sign to advertise and since it was super hot out, business was good! Noelle would get so excited when she had customers and Ty was very diligent in handling the money and giving change.</div><br />

At one point, we ran out of ice. Naturally, it was the same time Alexis was eating lunch, so Daddy and the kids hopped in the car and ran to get more. While they were gone, the Jimmy Johns guy stopped by with some sandwich samples....yeah for free lunch!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinVyuxX67jNEJHagC9bIDWQqBs66WpBZoFqG0Cxg7sprKVzsI5ziIRLeb-MRAUJ2miPsNvmSsFmqyYzOtwTOkNuThwz0a8Dk8R5x9U2uyWvzV-O1bd9gENlD4YGZxzMUKfcEaXKTBCVdQ/s1600/IMG_3512.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinVyuxX67jNEJHagC9bIDWQqBs66WpBZoFqG0Cxg7sprKVzsI5ziIRLeb-MRAUJ2miPsNvmSsFmqyYzOtwTOkNuThwz0a8Dk8R5x9U2uyWvzV-O1bd9gENlD4YGZxzMUKfcEaXKTBCVdQ/s320/IMG_3512.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Once the rush was over, Noelle and Ty were more interested in riding their bikes than selling lemonade. Daddy sold a few cups, but then he realized that he looked a little silly selling drinks while the kids were down the street playing. We packed up the gear and counted the money, $15.83 was the grand total- not bad for .25 cups and 2 hours of work. I'm sure they would have doubled that if they didn't have baseball earlier in the morning. When I asked what they wanted to buy, they both shouted CANDY! (of course)<br />

The top three follow:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">1. At one point, Noelle was super hot and sweaty and she asks, "<em>Can I have a sip of lemonade??"</em> Jeremy responds, <em>"Sure, but you're drinking away your profits."</em></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">2. When the kids were eating lunch, they were making what some might call "a mess". So Jeremy says, "<em>You can't eat at the table. You've got to keep up a professional appearance- NO FOOD ON THE TABLE!"</em></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">3. I was marveling at how well Noelle was going up to people asking for lemonade because last year she was so shy. Jeremy says, <em>"That's the #1 rule, you gotta ask for the sale."</em></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Oh my, is he a riot or what? Just another day in paradise I guess!</div>Reneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04074387790962528208noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1165163777855059328.post-74931776005928265692011-07-15T22:26:00.001-05:002011-07-15T22:56:56.694-05:00Alexis Months 1-3Dear Alexis, <br />
<br />
Your first three months have been wonderful! The first month you spent sleeping ALL.THE.TIME. We'd have to wake you up to eat and as tempting as it was to just let you snooze, we knew you had to nurse to gain weight and build up my milk supply. I relished the solid 3-4 hours of sleep I was getting and was so thankful that you seemed to be a calm baby! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpOI7gzQZqX0RP-mwZCxPtEPq9jZq66sTkf3N4IgheI6TWDCJcHF_iD1Dq1ML8L-Ip3zBXSR061K9DeUi1OmvkIZ_wBbz3zFKpJ4Q3DaMK-60zKRgb8VVeW7DE8_rEXGa1-vNALKk71LY/s1600/IMG_2856.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpOI7gzQZqX0RP-mwZCxPtEPq9jZq66sTkf3N4IgheI6TWDCJcHF_iD1Dq1ML8L-Ip3zBXSR061K9DeUi1OmvkIZ_wBbz3zFKpJ4Q3DaMK-60zKRgb8VVeW7DE8_rEXGa1-vNALKk71LY/s320/IMG_2856.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>All that sleeping must've meant you were growing. Your first month check up showed that you gained 3lbs and grew 2 1/4 inches, wow! Such a big girl!! You love to be swaddled, but only from the waist down. If we try to wrap up your arms, you thrash about until they are free.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3XoSA-aJQaPcpZKf37epTyK48Cw4mnYlWEmRfVO5rjPU2jAFbDVmg0ae0QqHFNfTry9jtCZQjqQbKzEseHzk4ti5wZ1cgAM5MaNoKfVfonhFu3bKNhly1F2od8hj9L3w8yJLy1EgJlHs/s1600/IMG_2997.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3XoSA-aJQaPcpZKf37epTyK48Cw4mnYlWEmRfVO5rjPU2jAFbDVmg0ae0QqHFNfTry9jtCZQjqQbKzEseHzk4ti5wZ1cgAM5MaNoKfVfonhFu3bKNhly1F2od8hj9L3w8yJLy1EgJlHs/s320/IMG_2997.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Here you are on May 6th, a week shy of two months. Even tummy time doesn't seem to bother you, as you sleep right on through it. When you do manage to stay awake you are VERY strong. You can lift your head up well and once you start to get hungry and/or mad, you just about roll right over...incredible! Of course, after your workout, it's back to loooong snoozes for you :-) At 8 weeks, you were sleeping 6-8 hours at night. Usually, you go down about 10 and wake up to nurse at 4 or 5, and then go back down until about 8. What a great sleeper!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span id="goog_1891048905">At three months, you have quite the personality. You started smiling at 9 weeks, but it was only an occasional grin, usually brought on by Daddy or me acting silly trying to get you to smile. Now, all we have to say is "Hi Alexis" and you wiggle and squirm and bless us with a big 'ole smile and giggle. I've yet to get a good picture of you because you get confused when I point the camera at you, but I do have some good videos to upload soon!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You are still sleeping about 7 hours at night, but go from 9 to 3 or 4 now to eat. You go right back down to and sleep another 3-4 hours. I love it!! You schedule is starting to regulate itself during the day as far as your morning and afternoon naps go. You continue to be the easiest baby in town and don't seem to mind as Noelle, Ty, and I jet set around town to various play dates and activities. You love to cuddle your face into your blankie when you sleep and can't stand to have anything covering your legs while you sleep. The other night, Daddy and I did an experiment where we put covers on your legs while you were sleeping. Immediately, you wiggled and scooted until they were off and then went back into a deep sleep. We did a three or four times and it was the same result. You are too funny sweet girl! You legs are like ice when you get up to eat, but it obviously doesn't bother you since you sleep so well!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

You always seem to be laughing or smiling at them and your new favorite activity is sitting in the exersaucer while they show you the toys and spin you around. You also don't seem to be bothered by their laughing/yelling/crying/screaming/giggling/running/banging/barking/any-other-noise-you-can-think-of because you sleep right on through, even if you're napping in the swing and are in the same room with them.
